Configurable Idea Ratings
and Metrics

Depending on your industry and your objectives, and on what maturity level an idea has reached, different rating criteria make sense for evaluating ideas in the different phases, for instance:

  • Customer Benefit
  • Feasibility
  • Risk
  • Cost

Configurable Multi-Phase
Workflow

Through its lifecycle, an idea will go through multiple stages, for instance

  • Draft
  • Discussion
  • Screening
  • Refinement
  • Rating
  • Business Case
  • Management Approval

These stages will be highly dependent on your organization, and they will change over time.

Configurable Discussion and Voting Schemes

Depending on your objectives, different discussion and voting schemes based on points or stars may be configured. Votes may be added up or averaged, negative votes may be allowed or disallowed, and voting may be combined with discussion.

Configurable Email Notifications

Keeping everyone informed is key to adoption, and it reduces the innovation manager's workload.

  • Contributors know why their ideas have been promoted or rejected
  • Discussion participants learn about new postings
  • Reviewers are notified about new ideas to review

Configurable Watchlist

Users can select to be notified about new ideas, challenges, or discussion postings matching their interest profile. This helps idea contributors to get comments and reviews on their ideas from experts in the organization they might not previously know.

Configurable Reward Allocation

Many kinds of behavior can be rewarded by allocating credits to a user's rewards account, for instance,

  • Submitting or giving feedback upon an idea,
  • Completing a review (in time),
  • Backing a successful idea

Configure HypeIMT to your requirements, and fine-tune the system over time.

Configurable Idea Clustering and Search

Typically, ideas will be clustered by, for instance,

  • Technology area
  • Customer Benefit
  • Incremental/Radical
  • Sustaining/Break-Through
  • Strategic buckets

Often, some of these classification hierarchies will be visible to just some user groups, and they may differ by business unit

Configurable Reports for Portfolio Management

To reduce everyone's workload, HypeIMT generates different kinds of reports, for instance,

  • Diagrams, charts and statistics in Excel and PNG
  • Tabular reports in Excel
  • PDF, HTML, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint presentations

Typical elements to reside on the idea management systems portal page are

  • Recent ideas
  • Top ideas
  • Top innovators
  • Current idea campaigns
  • Explanations about the process
  • Statistics about current campaigns, numbers of ideas per area, etc.

Configurable Integration with Corporate User Database

User groups, user accounts and passwords need not be managed by innovation managers. They are taken from the corporate user database underlying, for instance, the corporate email address book or payroll management system. Users do not need to remember passwords, they just follow a hyperlink in an email or on the intranet, and the idea management software recognizes the account they use to log on to Windows or the corporate intranet.

Configurable User Roles and Access Rights

Depending on your needs, different kinds of stakeholders will be accessing the idea management system, for instance

  • Contributors
  • Central innovation managers
  • Business unit specific innovation managers
  • Experts
  • Reviewers
  • IP professionals
  • Product managers
  • R&D controllers
  • Marketing professionals and
  • Senior managers

Typically, they will all have different access rights. For instance, idea contributors may not be able to edit their idea once it is submitted, and contributors in one BU may not be allowed to see all aspects of an idea in a different BU.

Configurable Look and Feel

In order to blend in with existing applications in your corporate intranet, HypeIMT allows many aspects of its look and feel to be configured towards your expectations, for instance

  • Colors, fonts, and images
  • Menu structure
  • Page layout
  • Forms for entering, rating, and reviewing ideas

Configurable Forms for Idea Entry, Discussion, and Review
