Chris Docherty

Team Leader Innovation Consulting at Hype

Chris Docherty, Team Leader Innovation Consulting at Hype, has over 25 years of experience in practical engineering and innovation and is helping organizations such as Novartis, BAE Systems, Goodyear, and BP on their innovation journey and building a sustainable innovation program.

He first encountered innovation at the age of seventeen, as an apprentice engineer, working on the replica engines of ‘the ship that changed the world’ – Brunel’s SS Great Britain - the first ocean-going iron ship to be driven by a propeller. He earned a first-class honours and masters degree in engineering, largely for his work on industrial lasers and robotic manipulators.

Chris then had the opportunity to work as an automation engineer and an innovation leader with Cargill, America's largest privately held global food corporation, to build up an innovation practice for other Cargill business units to emulate.
